About JobBack to Top
Dear Au Pair, We are a lovely, easy going family living in a a beautiful, safe seaside suburb of Dublin. We are looking for an Au Pair who is looking to experience living in Dublin and all the things it has to offer. We have had a number of aupairs over the last few years who have stayed for between 11-16 months, which we hope is a good reflection of us as a family. We live in a suburb of Dublin called Monkstown and our house is a ten minute walk to the sea. Monkstown has some lovely coffee shops, bars and restaurants and is one of the nicest areas to live in Dublin. It is about 8km from the city centre with quick access by train and bus (train is a 15 minute journey). There are lots of things to do with gyms, pool, parks, cinema, shops, supermarket, sea walks, etc. all within a short distance. If you wish, we can arrange a Skype chat with our current Au Pair. About us Our family consists of Tom (works in finance) and Yvonne (clinical psychologist), Jacob (9) and Ben (6) who are in school, Elsa (3) who is in Montessori until 1.30pm every day and baby Noah who is 16 months old and attends a creche every day. We also have a cat called Percy who sleeps in the shed but likes cuddles in the evening! Our house is busy, quite active and at times noisy but the children are well behaved and very loving and we hope you enjoy getting to know them. It's a real advantage if you like football, superheroes as well as doing hair and all things girly with Elsa! The children have really enjoyed having an au pair in our family and finding out about different cultures. Be prepared to answer lots of questions! As a family, we are pretty easy going but we do encourage the children to tidy up and help out a little at home and generally we like to keep the house tidy. Expectations We need someone enthusiastic, out going and independent who has initiative to help out with family life. This would involve helping in the mornings to get the children to school on time! Generally you would be free until the afternoon when you will be required to pick the older 3 children up from school and take them to after school activities and get homework done! the children come home from school. Noah attends a creche and is dropped and collected by Yvonne on her way to work. As well as helping out during the week, we also require two nights babysitting per week (one of which will be a weekend night). However, we are flexible around babysitting and appreciate that there may be weekends that you want to go away. We have a cleaner but we will require you to do some light housework (laundry, keeping living area clean, kid’s bedrooms etc.). You will be treated as a member of our family and we all chip in with cooking and cleaning up after meals. There are a number of au pairs working in our area (including our neighbour across the road) and we would be happy to introduce you to some of them so that you get to make friends and have have lots to do when you are not helping out. There is also a language school locally that lots of the au pairs in the area attend.
