About cristinaBack to Top

My name is Cristina, I'm 33 years old and I really would like to be your au pair for a while ;) I'm going to start talking a little bit of myself so you can know me. I am the younger child of three sibling. I have an older sister (39) and an older brother (36). My sister has 2 daughters (9 and 6) and my bother has one boy (6). I live with my parents (I know it is going to be unusual but nowadays it is actually quite common in Spain. In my case I've never had a big salary in any of my jobs and also I'm quite homely) I like to live with them and I really love my hole family and I think I am very lucky to have them in my life. They are the most important thing to me. We support each other and have so much fun together. I am a journalist. I ended my studies in 2009 and since them I've been working as a journalist or community manager (Since then I did some courses in order to be update). But now I need a break and I decided to go abroad and live a new experience (meet new people, learn a new culture, new food, new landscape,… so I am here to be an au pair and meanwhile I want to improve my English because I always wanted to have a high level of English and in Spain it is too complicated. It's not going to be the first time I decide to go away and live abroad. When I was at the University I get an Erasmus scholarship and I went to Helsinki (Finland). It was the best decision ever!! I had a really really great time there. I met so many kind people, I did things I've never thought, like riding a reindeer, meeting Santa Claus or watching a northern light. I also tasted new food, and I could know a little bit about Finland culture. I visited other cities and other countries near Finland (Estonia, Lithuania , Latvia , Sweden…) It was an amazing experience and since them I tried to repeat but that meant to quit my job and I guest until now, I wasn't so brave. But now I am totally convince. I consider myself a happy, friendly, honest and kind person. I have a lot friends. Actually I am truly lucky with the friends I have. I met my best friend when we were 5 years old and nowadays we are still seeing each other every week. I have friends from my school, from my high school, from my university, from all my jobs and from a trip to Paris 11 years ago (now these people are more than friends they are like a family). I always meet people who worth preserving. I am a very normal person. The tree things I like the most are: traveling, listening to music, and chocolate and cheese :) But I like also watching movies or tv series, hanging out with friends, going to the cinema, reading books, going to a attraction park, picnics, hiking… I don't know that else do you want to know about my personality but I'm pretty sure do you want to know if I've got any experience as a au pair or taking care of children. So, let's start: As I already told you, I have two nieces and one nephew and we are really close family so we spend a lot of time together. I used to "babysitter" them since they were born. I changed them the diapers, I fed them, I showered them, I sang before going to bed or told them stories in order to get them sleep… And now that they are older, I play with them, we make crafts, also we do pijama's party with cartoon movies… Sometimes I cook for them but I never drive with them. I have a driving license but the last time I drove was long time ago. During my Erasmus I took care for a baby, Adrian. He was one year and a half. I usually picked him from the kindergarden, we went home, I prepared him the afternoon snack, we went to a near park (he loved the swings) and we played together. During this time I taught him to use the potty. Sometimes, they parents asked me to stay at night because they wanted to go out for a while. So, I gave him dinner and read him a book and I led him to the cradle. I also was a monitor for a cultural organization. I was a part of a young team that like me, want to offer some of our free time in order to spend time with children that didn't have enough money to pay for private organization. The main activities took place all the Saturdays afternoon. We divided the afternoon in four steps. First, they have some free time to do whatever they wanted: play football, speak with friends and tell each other how it was the week…, Second, all monitors had previously prepared during the week a big game where they had to do together (the children was from 4 to 14 years old). With the game, they learnt how important is to do things together, to share time with different kind of children (different ages, cultures, social scale…) to be respectful, the importance to be cooperative and help each other… Third, we divided all children according to their ages and each monitor was in charged for one group. There, we explained social values with some little games (depended of their ages), with some lectures or we asked them to do something. Last, there was the time of the “workshops”. Each monitor had their own workshop and at the beginning of the semester, children chose the one they wanted. Some of them were: theatre, craft, dance, painting… We also used to do special activities for Christmas, Summer, Halloween and some parties at the end of the school course. I worked as private teacher with children from different ages. The younger one was 6 years old and the older one 18 years old. All parents were so happy with me because I was a cool teacher that I did funny activities to understand the subject quickly, buy also I was a strong teacher who put duties so they can learn everything and get good marks. Of course, if you want your children learn Spanish, please, count on me! As you can see, I like to spend time with children :) This is just a little bit about me. If you like me and you need to know more, it will be a pleasure can talk to you by skype or in person and known each other. I know it is a huge responsibility to let you child or children with a person you don't know. Buy I promise I will play with them in order they will be happy and I'll be there for them when they need me. I'll hug them everyday (unless you don't want to) but I also teach them how to behave because I think education is not only at schools it is also at home. I want to say sorry if I made any grammatical mistake in this email. With these experience I pretend to improve my English. So, I hope you like to spend some time with me and we can share some family moment. Thank you very much for your time. Can't wait to hear from you and meet each other. Fondly, Cristina
