Hi! I am a recent college graduate, just having obtained a BA in Physiology in Trinity College Dublin. I have a lot of free afternoons and evenings to fill, now that I don't need to study 24/7! I think babysitting would be an ideal way to fill those evenings as I love working with children. I have a lot of experience working with young children as I have volunteered in a Kenyan primary school in 2012, teaching 4-6 year old girls and boys geography and maths and I also coached a junior hockey team in my local hockey club. I also worked as a camp counselor in an all-girls camp in the summer of 2016. I was a tennis counselor, a tower climbing counselor, a American Red Cross certified lifeguard and I also was a cabin counselor to [removed] year old girls for 9 weeks. I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a camp counselor in America and I learned so much from the children. From my experiences I have learned many things -I have a very patient demeanor and believe that being a good listener and being attentive are key to a successful relationship with children. I am hard working and diligent, and I learn from both the children's' experiences and from my own. I am organized and like to be presentable at all times. From working with children, I have learned to be a good leader and a brilliant dispute mediator. Whilst this all sounds very firm, I do enjoy having a laugh with kids, once no one gets hurt! I enjoy meeting new people every day through my line of work. I strive to provide the best experience for the children and to put you, the parents, at ease. As a girl with three younger siblings, I have first hand experience of babysitting from the child perspective and from the babysitter as I often minded my younger siblings. There are many activities I can do with children I mind- I can play games, play sports, particularly hockey, Gaelic football or tennis, watch films, offer help with homework (especially Biology and History!) and do a little housework. As a science student (and former teenager) I understand the importance of sleep and bed times will be adhered to, rest assured. An additional perk from working at camp was that I was trained in CPR and First Aid and I am also an American Red Cross certified lifeguard, a qualification that holds for two years. To become a camp counselor, all applicants must undergo a security check by their country's police force so I have a Garda background check certificate available on demand as well and as I have volunteered, I have been Garda vetted numerous times and will do so if asked.
