My name is Ashish Yogi. My colleagues call me Ash or Asho. While I am originally from Nepal, I have been living in Dublin for the past nine (9) years. I have with me my seven (7) solid years of experience in elderly care. I am currently woking at TLC, a private nursing home in Santry as a Senior Healthcare Assistant. I am normally working a twelve-hour shift (8am to 8 pm) seven (7) days fortnightly. From all the years that I have been working as a carer, I learned that compassion, patience and good communication are the most important qualities of a carer. While hard skills such as technical know-how, time management and carer certification are equally important, soft skills makes a lot of difference in elderly's day-to-day over all experience. My job is quite challenging but being a support system of someone during their golden years is purely rewarding. I feel joy in helping elderly people in their best interest. I also encourage independence to elderly, which gives them sense of empowerment and autonomy in their choices and preferences. My greatest strength as a carer is my humor and ability to make elderly people as well as their family to feel comfortable and relax. On the other hand, my greatest weakness is that I am very keen on details and I want everything organize and clean all time. That is why, I spent a considerable amount of time when I am helping an elderly with their hygiene. I am 5'11' tall, fit and physically active, hence even alone I could easily assist the elderly.
