My name is Laís, I’m 24 years old, I’m from Aracaju which is the capital of a state namely Sergipe in northeast of Brazil. This is my first time abroad, and I’m here to learn English. My mother is a doctor and always supported me and my younger brother all by herself (my father was never there to help). My younger brother is a medicine student, he lives in João Pessoa which is the capital of a state namely Paraíba. I used to participate in a recreation programme for hospitalised children in emergency hospital of Sergipe hired by medical cooperative over 3 years experience. I worked helping to take care of the children (giving baths, feeding them, changing diapers and so on), and later playing games with them (teaching colors, animals, songs and giving them activities). I always loved children, I love how unique and different they are from each other, even being raised under the same roof. I know that each child has a personality, and we have to talk and act differently with each one of them. When I worked in this recreations, I tried to pay attention to see which children needed more attention than others. I finished Architecture University Course last year, and it was such an amazing experience. I learned to be a sensitive and creative person, so I like to paint and to pay attention in everything around me. I have always been very active and hard working, and many people say that I have a great energy, because I am always trying to see the positive side of every situation. I like to have fun, and I’m always trying to find new ways to entertain myself and the ones I like. I throw theme parties every year for my friends, because I believe that life is hard enough as it is, so we might as well enjoy our time. I am very patient and try to see other people’s problems from their point of view, which makes me have many trusting friends. I believe that empathy is very important.
