Childcare has always been part of my life, starting from an early age I was in charge of minding and caring for children. This early start in the vocation has not stopped as today I continue to mind, care and look after my cousins. I look after them quite simply because of my love for caring; love of being around such bright young energetic people helps me feel that my time is well spent. This love for childcare and helping others is something I look to do with my life, not just as a once a week job but as a full time profession which I want to put all my heart into. In school I acted as a mentor for first years, to help ease them into the world of secondary school, this time of their lives can be stressful but I know I tried my best to help them. This feeling I have of caring for everyone does not stop at children as in the past I have done work experience in nursing homes as well of helping my own mother care for her mother. Experiencing these two kinds of caring professions has given me a wide range of opinions. Through these experiences and through taking a gap year after leaving school I am certain that childcare is the profession I wish to study and childcare is the profession which I want to do with my working life.
