About EveBack to Top
I am a caring, patient and responsible 27-year-old who genuinely enjoys working with children and young people. I recently completed my Level 8 degree in Youth and Community Work at Maynooth University in May 2026, and I am beginning my Master's in Social Work this September. My education and practical experience have given me a strong understanding of children and young people's individual needs, development and wellbeing, while also teaching me the importance of creating a safe, supportive and positive environment. I have one year of babysitting experience, caring for a 9-year-old girl twice a week. Through this experience, I developed a strong understanding of the responsibility involved in caring for a child and the importance of being reliable, attentive, patient and trustworthy. I really enjoyed building a positive relationship with her and making sure she felt comfortable, safe and supported while in my care. During my Youth and Community Work degree, I completed three 14-week full-time placements, which gave me a wide range of experience working directly with children and young people. My first placement was with the YMCA on Aungier Street in Dublin, where I worked with children and young people aged 7–20. I built trusting relationships with young people and helped create a safe, welcoming and supportive environment. I planned and delivered activities, homework clubs and personal development programmes, which helped me develop my ability to engage children and young people in fun, meaningful and age-appropriate activities. I also completed a placement with the Solas Project in The Liberties, working directly with children and young people aged 8–25. I supported young people with a variety of needs and challenges, including ADHD, autism, mental health difficulties, difficulties in school and challenging family circumstances. This experience strengthened my patience, communication and ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations. It also taught me the importance of safeguarding, maintaining appropriate boundaries and treating every young person as an individual. My community work placement in Bluebell also gave me experience supporting people with a range of intellectual and physical disabilities. This helped me develop an even greater understanding of the importance of patience, empathy, flexibility and adapting my approach to meet an individual's needs. I believe these experiences would make me a great babysitter because I understand that every child is different. I am someone who will take the time to get to know a child's personality, interests and needs, while providing appropriate boundaries and supervision. I enjoy creating a warm and positive environment where children feel comfortable being themselves. I am dependable, caring and approachable, but I also understand the responsibility that comes with looking after someone else's child. My professional experience has taught me the importance of communication, safeguarding, confidentiality and building trust with both children and families. Most importantly, I want children to feel safe, happy, listened to and respected when they are in my care. I would love the opportunity to bring my experience, education and genuine passion for working with children into babysitting and to provide parents with reassurance that their child is in safe and caring hands.
