Care Assistant for Adult with Intellectual Disability We are looking for a kind and reliable person to join the home care team of a gentle young man with a profound intellectual disability and physical disability. Hours: 20 hours per week Job Types: Part-time Pay: Care Assistant Pay Scales. Annual leave, sick leave and bank holiday entitlements as per statutory entitlements. Tax: Pay as you earn (PAYE) tax will be deducted as part of payroll Experience: Care experience is preferred but not essential. Employer: Small company that manages the staff supporting an individual in their home Location: Ballinhassig, Cork (Five Mile Bridge) Transport: On-site parking, bus from city stops 400 metres from the house Requirements: Cheerful, kind and reliable person Suitable character and work references Reasonable level of English Preferred: Relevant Fetac level 5 qualification Previous experience in caring work/home care/disability support Full clean drivers licence Duties and Responsibilities: The below list is not an exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities, but contains the primary care assistant duties. Care for the day to day needs of the client: Provide attention, support and companionship Physical care – helping with dressing, personal hygiene, toileting etc. Carry out training and learning programmes with the client Help the client complete physio exercises and go for walks Prepare meals for the client and assist at meal time Support the client in developing and maintaining their participation in activities of daily living Keeping daily records and reports. Liaising with other support staff Accompanying the client to appointments and activities in the community as required. To participate in relevant training courses (organised by the company) as may be required for the effective and safe support of the client ( e.g. Manual Handling, First Aid, Fire Safety etc) All posts are subject to satisfactory references, medical and Garda vetting CONFIDENTIALITY.
