Hi, We’re looking for someone to support our mum, who lives in the Leixlip, Co. Kildare area. She’s a lovely lady who is physically active, enjoys her independence and is fully mobile. She’s independent with all of her personal care, including washing, dressing and getting around the house, so this isn’t a role that involves providing personal care. She has Type 1 diabetes and some memory difficulties, and we’re looking for someone who could spend a few hours with her each day (ideally 5 days per week, although we’re very flexible for the right person). A live-in arrangement down the line could also be considered if that suited the right candidate. The role is really about companionship, routine and gentle support. Things that would be particularly helpful include: * Spending time with her and providing companionship. * Gently reminding and encouraging her to take her prescribed medication (no administration of medication is required). * Encouraging regular meals and fluids. * Helping her maintain a consistent daily routine. * Collecting prescriptions from the pharmacy from time to time if required. * Letting the family know if anything seems out of the ordinary or if you have any concerns. Experience supporting older adults, dementia or diabetes would be a real advantage, but it’s certainly not essential. Above all, we’re looking for someone who is kind, patient, reliable and enjoys helping people. This could suit a retired nurse, healthcare assistant, experienced carer or someone with relevant life experience who is looking for flexible work.
