We have lovely, easygoing, responsible and very capable teenagers ( 16 & 18) who are completely self-sufficient in their day-to-day lives. They manage their own school routines, homework, meals and activities independently and really don't need looking after in the traditional sense. However, when both parents are travelling abroad for work, sometimes for up to 10 days, we would much prefer to have a responsible adult, ideally aged 24 or older, staying in the house. This is really just for peace of mind, to provide a reassuring adult presence overnight and to make sure everything is ticking along smoothly while we're away. The role is very relaxed and involves very little hands-on childcare. It would mainly involve being present in the evenings and overnight, making sure the teenagers have arrived home safely from school and their activities, and generally being around should anything unexpected arise. We also have a lovely dog and cat who need feeding each morning and evening, at approximately 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Occasionally, a lift to or from the DART station would be helpful, so having a car would be an advantage, although not essential. We're not looking for someone to supervise the teenagers constantly or organise their lives. They're very independent, sensible and used to managing themselves. It's simply that, as parents, we wouldn't feel comfortable leaving them completely alone for an extended period while we're both abroad. Essentially, we're looking for a friendly, reliable, mature and easygoing person who would be happy to make themselves at home, enjoy a relatively relaxed arrangement and provide that extra bit of reassurance and adult presence while we're travelling for work. Our first requirement will be for approximately 12 days towards the end of November. This would be the initial booking, but we're hoping to find someone lovely and reliable who could help us, some weekends too, on an ongoing, occasional basis whenever we're both travelling abroad Your Own Car Necessary.
