Our mother recently suffered a stroke, which she is slowly recovering from. She has been in rehab for three months and is due to leave there in a few weeks. In order to support her successful return to her home, we require a compassionate, caring and capable carer to support her in her own home. Our mother, who was a National School teacher for over thirty years, has since her retirement, been heavily involved in many community groups for example our local historical society, parish council, the active retirement group and her local church. She is a very well known and popular personality within our local area and beyond, who has tirelessly supported others in their time of need. She has lived in Clonard since she got married almost sixty years ago. Prior to that she grew up in Balivor, with a large, close knit family who has sadly suffered the loss of three of her siblings within the past three years. Her husband, Paddy, is still in good health and is approaching his ninetieth birthday in June. Her immediate family is made up of six children and fifteen grandchildren. Only three of her children live in Ireland, with the rest living abroad. Due to the current pandemic, she has not been allowed any visitors so hasn’t seen her husband and family for at least six weeks, so being able to come home is her priority and ours too. Up until her stroke, she was an extremely active person, with so much energy and get up and go, who loved to travel. We are looking for someone who can help us support our mothers safe return to her home, to give her peace of mind that there is someone there who can meet her care needs during this crucial transition from rehab to home. We would, therefore, initially require full time qualified support for the first few weeks, which would then be reviewed once our mother has settled back home.
