Hello, we are looking for a live-in cleaner/companion for my elderly parents, who are in their late 70s. The house is in a wonderful part of Cork (Ballinlough) with easy access to the city centre by bus/car/foot. The duties would involve mostly light cleaning/tidying/running errands (approx. 20 hours per week) but also staying/living there, particularly on weekends at nighttime. The role would particularly suit someone looking for accommodation and a part-time job during the summer months in Cork. We are flexible on the exact duration, hours and live-in arrangements. Duties: Typical duties involve cleaning, tidying and cooking, e.g.: 1. Planning and cooking meals. My mother has kidney failure, so you would need to become familiar with the restrictions of a renal diet. 2. Daily household chores, e.g., keeping the kitchen tidy, emptying/filling dishwasher, doing laundry, tidying cupboards, vacuuming the kitchen/living area as required, dress the beds, etc. There will be a separate cleaner who comes once per fortnight to do the “big jobs”, e.g., cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming whole house. 3. Assisting my parents with administrative tasks such as ordering groceries online. 4. Errands such as grocery shopping and collecting medication from the pharmacy. Hours: 20 hours per week. For the cleaning/tidying/cooking, this would ideally be performed Mon-Fri 08:00am-12 noon, but the hours can flex. Fixed-term duration: The role is fixed-term, from approx. 01st June [removed]th Sept 2024, though the dates can flex. Live-in arrangements: As well as the duties above, the candidate would sleep at the house for companionship for my mother while my father is away some weekends (e.g., be present 21:00-09:00 the following morning, 3 nights). You would have your own (though within the house, e.g., not an annex) separate bedroom, bathroom and living room. Food would be provided. Depending on the candidate’s preference, you can live there full-time (7 nights per week) or just certain long weekends (e.g., Thursday-Sunday night, inclusive, for three weekends per month) or anything in between. The ideal candidate would need to: - Be mature and friendly. - Be pro-active and organised. - Have excellent English. - Have first aid training. Desirable but not essential: A. Some experience with elderly care would be desirable, though not essential. My parents are both mobile and able (e.g., can wash themselves, dress themselves, etc.). B. A driver’s license and/or own car. The house has one small dog but there wouldn’t be any dog related duties. Pay is negotiable. Look forward to meeting you!
