Fixed Short Term Contract Required for the month of July – Residential Housekeeper/Carer/Companion for 89 year old lady living in her own property in Naas. Patience and flexibility as well as clear communication and excellent practical skills (eg light cleaning, laundry, shopping, traditional cooking, medication reminders, accompanied pharmacy/doctor visits) are all essential for this post. A carer with her own car and clean driving license would be an advantage as small day trips are to be encouraged. This post would ideally suit someone with strong previous experience of dealing with the needs and concerns of elderly people and will also require regular contact with key family members. The Power of Attorney will help direct the role and must be consulted for all major decisions. Sensible budgeting and a small amount of straightforward record- keeping is also expected to show expenditure. This vacancy has arisen as a result of the current carer taking a one month holiday. For the right candidate, there is a possibility this post could develop into a longer term contract from August onwards on a shift pattern rotation with another carer to provide round the clock attendance for the client. Full supporting documentation, including most recent references and garda checks must be up to date when brought to the interview if shortlisted. Competitive rate of pay offered and all receipted out of pocket expenses reimbursed. The post holder is expected to keep their own expenditure completely separate from the client. Interviews to take place before the end of May – times and dates to be mutually agreed. The family feel it is important to give the successful applicant a one day handover with the current housekeeper before July. This is likely to involve a trip to Limerick where the client is currently living. Expenses and agreed day rate will be paid for this handover day.
