Hello! I have seven years experience working with children of all ages (from age one up to teenagers) in various capacities including play-based educator, summer camp/after school club manager and room leader, creche and classroom assistant, Baby&Me teacher, English teacher, babysitter, volunteer teacher at an NGO based in Peru and workshop facilitator. Following two years working as an English teacher to children aged 2+ at La Casita de Ingles (Madrid-located play-based learning academy), I was promoted to head office, where I was in charge of hiring, training and evaluating all new teachers as well as creating the weekly lesson plans for 5-6 year-olds. On returning to my hometown in West Cork, I took on the position of activity facilitator at RehabCare Day Service, Bantry. There, I was given the freedom to incorporate many of my passions and interests (drama, cooking and baking, arts and crafts, creative writing, poetry, languages, fitness, dance, yoga and mindfulness) in order to deliver fun, engaging and meaningful programmes in collaboration with the clients. While I more than enjoyed my time in this role, I do miss working with children and teenagers and would so appreciate the opportunity to do so again. While at La Casita de Ingles, I learned the value of play-based learning and positive discipline. I believe in the importance of humour, as well as a calm, kind and empathetic approach when working with children and teenagers. I have learned first-hand that even very challenging behaviours respond best to this, and that discipline should never means harshness or a lack of respect. Furthermore, my extensive experience as an English teacher and community workshop facilitator sparked a desire in me to help others find activities that bring them joy and boost their confidence, whatever they may be. If you have made it this far, I sincerely hope you will consider me for the position of nanny/childminder/tutor to your children.
