I have always been deeply fascinated with people and have been inherently caring from a young age. This compassion for others motivated me to pursue a fulfilling career in the care sector. My academic journey began with a law degree and a master's in law. Additionally, I completed a higher diploma in social policy and practice, which provided me with a solid foundation in understanding societal needs. More recently, I earned a supervisory management certificate, enhancing my leadership skills in a caregiving context. My first hands-on experience as a caregiver began when my paternal grandmother was diagnosed with dementia, and my father was diagnosed with cancer. I dedicated myself to meeting their daily needs with compassion and patience. Their daily needs included adhering to their specific dietary requirements, prompting medication at the correct times, and providing essential personal care such as showering, bathing, grooming, and dressing. I diligently observed their daily activities and health conditions, documenting any changes accurately to inform their healthcare providers. In addition to personal care, I took on household responsibilities like cleaning to ensure a safe and comfortable living environment. I also prioritised their physical well-being by taking them for walks and providing palliative care to ensure they were comfortable during their final days. This experience profoundly impacted me, increasing my empathy for vulnerable individuals and solidifying my desire to work in care. Motivated by my experiences, I volunteered with SOSAD (Save Our Sons and Daughters), a community organisation supporting individuals facing mental health challenges. Through my volunteer work, I gained invaluable insights into people's diverse struggles. It taught me the importance of patience and perseverance, further reinforcing my commitment to the care sector and the difference one can make in the lives of others. Currently employed with one of Ireland's leading home care providers. In this role, I apply my skills to assist clients in maintaining their independence while ensuring they live comfortably in their homes. This position has provided me with hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the complexities of delivering high-quality care. I work closely with clients to tailor support plans that respect their autonomy and preferences, empowering them to lead fulfilling lives. My educational background in advocacy has equipped me with strong diplomatic skills and has honed my analytical, critical thinking, and strategic planning abilities. Additionally, I possess excellent time management and communication skills and a strong capacity for multitasking and organisation. Interpersonal skills are fundamental to my role, allowing me to work effectively in team environments while connecting genuinely with clients and their families. Beyond my professional endeavours, I have many interests and talents. I enjoy activities such as reading, dancing, sightseeing, and walking — all of which contribute to my well-being and help me recharge. I am sociable, warm-hearted, caring, and immensely reliable. My passion lies in supporting vulnerable individuals to lead fulfilling lives and to positively impact their journeys.
