**Professional Companion and Practical Support for Older Adults and Adults with Disabilities** Families often need more than someone who can simply spend time with an older or disabled relative. They need someone mature, dependable and capable who will take a genuine interest in the person, communicate clearly and handle practical matters calmly. I bring the judgement and reliability of an experienced professional, together with lifelong personal experience supporting my sibling, who has a mild intellectual disability. I continue to look after her interests as her family guardian and advocate while she is in residential care. This has given me a deep understanding of patience, dignity, emotional reassurance, advocacy and the importance of helping adults retain their independence and personal choice. Education has also been central to my life. I have worked as an educator from preschool and kindergarten level through to lecturing postgraduate students at university. I consider myself a lifelong educator and particularly enjoy spending time with people who value conversation, reading, books, current affairs, libraries, cultural activities and continued learning. I also understand the demands placed on family caregivers. I can provide practical co-assistance, respite and emotional support, whether that means helping alongside a family member, giving them time to attend to other responsibilities or simply offering a calm and understanding presence. My services can include: • Companionship, conversation and regular visits • Reading aloud and discussing books, news or topics of interest • Library visits, cafés, community activities and social outings • Accompanying clients to medical and other appointments • Shopping, errands and prescription collection • Walks, meal preparation and light household organisation • Paperwork, correspondence and practical administration • Family communication and general advocacy • Support for adults with mild intellectual or developmental disabilities • Practical and emotional support for family caregivers I have also helped older people through the complex and emotional process of moving home, including downsizing, sorting belongings, organising services and helping them settle into a new environment. Moving and relocation support is scoped and priced separately. **Rates and expenses** My standard rate is **€30 per hour**, with a minimum booking of two hours. Travel to and from clients within 5 km of my home base is included. For clients located further away, any additional travel charge will be agreed in advance. Any transport, parking, admission fees or other costs incurred while accompanying or assisting a client are paid separately by the client. Time spent travelling with or accompanying the client is charged at my normal hourly rate. I provide non-medical support exclusively to older adults and adults with disabilities. I am not available for childcare but are available for assistance and support to mothers with PND or single parents that have new babies and toddlers up to 2 years.
