I’m a 24 year old mental health nurse and I have recently completed my Level 4 Certificate in Child Development and Play. I also have around two years of childcare experience. I have a full Irish drivers license. I’ve looked after children of different ages, including caring for two children over the summer months and occasionally helping out with evenings after school. During this time I organised age appropriate activities to help keep the children entertained while also helping with homework, preparing meals, and making sure they remained happy and comfortable. I also have experience babysitting a toddler, where I focused on ensuring her safety, wellbeing, and happiness while providing a caring and engaging environment. My background in mental health nursing has helped me develop my communication skills, patience and the ability to remain calm in any situation. It has also given me strong interpersonal skills. My nursing experience has given me a good understanding of emotional wellbeing, in which I ensure that each child would feel listened to and supported. Since I have completed the child development and play course, I am interested in changing paths from mental health nursing to childcare as it has gave me a keen interest in wanting to help progress children’s development through play. During this course, we learned how to implement play to help teach children new skills. While caring for your children, I would ensure to implement the skills and knowledge I gained from this course to ensure your child receives the best care.
