I currently work part-time as a counsellor and psychotherapist in Ennis and am looking for another part-time role alongside my practice. I am deliberately looking for something different from simply adding more counselling hours: I would genuinely enjoy returning to the practical, everyday side of working with children, which has been part of my life both professionally and personally for many years. Before becoming a teacher, I undertook a number of part-time childminding roles. I am also an aunt to 16 nieces and nephews and have played a significant hands-on role in caring for many of them from birth through to school age. So although my recent career has focused on education and counselling, everyday childcare — routines, play, activities, keeping children occupied and simply being a dependable adult — is very familiar to me. Professionally, I have over sixteen years' experience in education and support and am a qualified teacher. I currently work with Starcamp, where I lead staff teams and have responsibility for children's safeguarding, wellbeing and day-to-day experience within busy children's programmes. I have also taught QQI Level 5 Early Childhood Development and Play. While working with Servisource, I audited Early Childhood Development and Education classes, further developing my knowledge of early learning and child development. My counselling background is an additional strength rather than the reason I am applying. It has developed my understanding of communication, emotional regulation, individual differences and the importance of children feeling safe, heard and understood. I also have considerable experience supporting children and young people with additional needs. I am Garda vetted, have safeguarding training and hold a full clean driving licence. I am based in Ennis and am specifically looking for a part-time arrangement that can sit comfortably alongside my counselling practice. What I hope to find is a family where there is a good fit on both sides and where I can become a reliable, familiar person in a child's routine. I would be very happy to meet informally to talk about your children, the days and hours you need and what you are looking for in a childminder.
