Hi! I'm Karina, a 31-year-old from Brazil with a heart that's always been drawn to children. My connection to caregiving started early — my niece spent countless weekends in my care since I was a kid. Caring for her showed me that it's something I'm passionate about. I've tutored teenagers with their schoolwork, cared for a little girl from age 3 to 5, and then became an au pair. I lived for 3 months with a family in Chicago and for 2.5 years with another in California. This year, I actually went back to the family in California for 6 more months, when they needed me. I cared for three boys in Chicago (3, 5 and 7 years old). In California I also cared for three boys (starting at 5, 7 and 9 years old) — two of whom have special needs, including autism and ADHD — and honestly, they became my whole heart. We built real trust together, the kind that doesn't end when a placement does. Caring for children with additional needs taught me to slow down, really listen, and adapt to what each child needs individually — not just follow a routine, but understand the person behind it. I bring that same attentiveness to every child I care for, alongside a genuine love of creativity and play: reading, drawing, singing, cooking, being outdoors — anything that lets a child's imagination and confidence grow. I'm organized and reliable, but I also believe childcare should feel warm, not clinical. I want kids to feel safe, seen, and excited to spend their day with me. I speak Portuguese, fluent English, advanced Spanish, and I'm currently studying French, Dutch and Irish.
