I am an experienced and caring professional with several years of experience supporting older people, including people living with dementia. I worked in Portugal for around two and a half years with clients at different stages of dementia, including non-verbal clients and people with challenging behaviours. More recently, I worked in Ireland as a live-in carer for the same client for around 18 months, supporting an elderly lady with vascular dementia and complex health needs. During that time, I provided daily personal care, companionship and emotional support, while also working closely with her family. I can provide references from the family in Ireland. For me, caring is much more than completing daily tasks. I believe in building trust, getting to know the person behind the illness, respecting their routines and preferences, and helping them maintain as much dignity and independence as possible. I am patient, calm, attentive and comfortable dealing with difficult situations when they arise. I particularly enjoy live-in care because it allows time to build a genuine relationship with the person I am supporting. I am also very comfortable with pets and enjoy being part of a household and its everyday life. I am currently looking for a new caring role where I can use my experience while providing reliable, respectful and genuinely compassionate support.
