About MichelleBack to Top
Hello, my name is Michelle and I'm from Spain but living in Killarney because I want to improve my English. I have finished my university degree in tourism, although I have worked in other fields such as childcare. If I had to describe myself in three adjectives? Organised, friendly and responsible. I'm a girl who loves music, reading (especially comedy, love or thriller books), and dancing. Also, in my free time I love to go to watch the sunset, or go for a walk in the nature. I forgot to mention that I love animals, I have a cat called Leo. As I said before, I have a little brother, Carlitos, so I have been babysitting since he was born. From the first moment I felt the duty to protect him. Not only do I have this experience, I have also looked after some German siblings who were holidaying on the coast of Cadiz. At the time they were 5 and 9 years old. With the latter siblings, I had the language barrier, but we always understood each other very well, be it in games or in daily chores. I was lucky enough to be contacted shortly after to look after a 2 and a half year old girl during the summer and the beginning of the school year, who was about to start school. She was very young, and had behaviours of such an age. At that age they want to have everything and nothing, and they are gradually discovering what the world is like (it is at that time that they begin to experience changes, social, intellectual and emotional). It was a challenge to provide those first insights, and I loved being part of it. The beginning of school was difficult, as many are discovering for the first time to detach themselves from their families for a while. In the case of the little girl it was similar, however we noticed that when I took her to school she was happier and found it less difficult to get into class, having a different role with her. After a few weeks she was happy to go to school, and that was a great joy for her family and for me. I have also looked after other children sporadically, due to parents' needs, and from the first moment we created a very good bond. My motivation to start this new stage is mainly that it can add and contribute to my professional career, since everything that is to increase my knowledge about languages, cultures and places will nourish me professionally. I think everyone should take the opportunity to work with children, they are unique and despite their age they can teach you a lot. But you don't just learn about the children, you learn about the family, how they relate to each other, what their daily lives are like and even their rules.
