After working in printing and publishing for 30 years and running my own business for 11 years as a graphic designer and pre-press trainer, I decided to switch to tourism in 2019. I have brought up my two children (Benoît and Natacha), who are now 28 and 24, and who are well-balanced, independent adults. They live in France. At the end of 2021, I did an Erasmus in Dublin, working in a charity shop. It was a great and interesting experience. Second and third stays in Dublin the following 2 winters, again to improve my English as a home help and childminder for different families. They appreciated my relationship with the children and my efficiency. For the last 3 summers, I've been a heritage mediator at a major exhibition in Savoie. I gave guided tours. I particularly enjoyed accompanying groups of children and retired people. Now I'd like to pursue a new professional experience in the field of personal assistance as a salaried employee. I love Ireland, meeting people, nature, hiking and Celtic music. I'm energetic, I get on well with people of all ages, I adapt easily and I'm very receptive and caring. I have experience of helping the elderly: - with my mother, who suffered from Alzheimer's disease after my father died. She was in a wheelchair. I washed her on the bed. I put her in support stockings. I cleaned her dentures. I fed her. - I helped an ageing neighbour. At first, I kept her company and we did each other favours. Then, as she got older, I helped her with her daily routine. We stayed neighbours for about fifteen years until she went into a retirement home and died. - Last November, I accompanied a retired couple to Sligo. The lady has level 5 Parkinson's disease. I had to help her dress and undress, go to the toilet, wash her and go to bed. This lady is in a wheelchair. It was a difficult but very positive experience.
