Re: Application for a Spring/Summer Nanny/Childminder To Whom It May Concern, Firstly I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my cover letter and Curriculum Vitae. At present, I am undertaking my duties as a part-time, Homecare Assistant with a company entitled Home Care Plus in Dublin. I have completed three years of a four-year Social Care Practice course. I completed my second year of Social Care Practice work placement with Cheshire Ireland. Most recently I completed my third year of work with Tusla (Child and Family Agency). The student work placements have been valuable learning experiences in incorporating my skills and qualities such as teamwork, active listening, communication, critical-thinking, empathy, non-judgemental and advocacy. As you will see from my Curriculum Vitae I have over six years of experience working as a Nanny/ Childminder. Three years ago I travelled to Vancouver, Canada to experience life as a Nanny/Childminder. While I was residing in Vancouver I gained valuable experience from working with two different families with young children from the age range of nine months up to three years of age. I have two siblings, one older sister and, one younger brother. In general, I’m an active person, I enjoy the outdoors throughout the day, going to the beach, playing tennis, walking, biking and meeting with friends. I started working as a babysitter from the age of fourteen and have worked with many different families and children from the age of eight months up to sixteen years of age in Ireland. From working with many different families and children I have gained experience both in Ireland and Canada from feeding, tantrums, development, behaviour management, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), boundaries, daily routines, and household duties. When I started working as a Nanny I enjoyed it, as I am a very caring, loving, calm, reliable, punctual, honest, patient, fun and hardworking person, all the qualities to be a fantastic Nanny/ Childminder to your children. In particular, it was rewarding to me while working with children and taking them out to places such as play gyms, library’s, arts and crafts and parks. In particular, I enjoyed teaching young children how to count numbers, colours, animals, and manners while keeping to the daily routine of meal and nap times. My most important duty while working as a Nanny/Childminder was to ensure that the children were safe, protected and having fun while in my care. While the children napped I completed household chores and prepared nutritious meals for the next few hours/next day. Currently, I have an up to date first aid and CPR certificate, caregiver certificates, full, clean Irish car license, recent Garda Vetting, and safety certificate. My skills include team player, listening, effective housekeeping and errands, hands-on experience in all aspects of preparing meals and snacks for the children, verbal and written communication skills, capable of merging enjoyable and life-enriching experiences into everyday moments and proven record in transporting children to and from school including other activities throughout the day. The qualities I seek in a family are respect and a safe working environment. I will be thankful for the chance of a personal meeting to discuss how my experience and expertise would be valuable for a Spring/Summer Nanny/Childminder position from April to August 2018.
