I am a highly experienced carer that has work across a wide and varied group of Organisations during my 10 year experience in Health Care. Prior to that I had very successful career in Industry, I hold a Bachelors Degree in Business with Honours. Subject to a redundancy situation in 2010, I took a years Career Break mainly do decide how I would like to find a new Career, I was attracted to the area of Healthcare and I joined Carrigoran House, New-Market-on- Fergus, Co Clare in Nov 2011, I was employed in the Occupational Therapy Department as an Activities Assistant, however I had duties to provide care to Residents 2 hours per morning form 8am to !0am and from 10 am to 4.30 pm I would carry out my duties as a Activities Co-Ordinator. I spent 5 years with Carrigoran House and was interested in gaining experience with intellectual disabilities and I took up a position with the Brothers of Charity Limerick where I worked mainly in their Challenging Behaviour Unit, I also worked in their specific Nursing Unit where all residents there were totally dependent on carer's delivering all the needs of the Residents, including Personal Care, Feeding, Nebuliser's, Medication Management, transfer of patients to Bedrooms and using hoists where appropriate. After my time with the Brothers of Charity, I became a landlord and rented 5 Bedroom of my house to University of Limerick Students, this I did form 2016 to 2020. After this I took up a position with Rehab Group where I worked in a high Support Unit in the field of Mental Health. In addition to this I have experience working as a private healthcare assistant as a live in carer (references available) caring for a 93 year old man with mobility issues, limited speech due to a stroke, I work 48 hours a week 2 days in concession. I also worked as an assistant to an elderly couple, one with Parkinsons and the Other with Cancer, providing care to the Female mainly while the husband was out playing cards most night. I had light housekeeping duties and some cooking to carry out. I currently work part-time hours for a Wheelchair bound gentleman in Ballyvaughan, however I would like to work more hours. I am a qualified carer holding FETAC Level Care of the Older person with Distinction I am a qualified first Aider have completed my course with the Irish Red Cross I hold multiple relevant qualifications relevant to the the Care of the Older person All Qualification will be presented if required to a potential employer I would like to add that I now work in Healthcare as it is my vocation to do so and I particular enjoy working with the older person, I have been in a caring role since I was 13 years of age and was priviliged to have had all my Grandparents in my life while I was growing up and I was involved in their care during the latter stages of their life, mainly providing companionship and support in the area of assisted living, all my Grandparents were cared for at home and none had ever to go into a Nursing home, therefore I believe that 'Home" is best as apposed to Nursing Home Care unless it is no longer feasible to look after the person at home. I can assure you that if I had the responsibility of looking after an older person, I would endeavour to give that person the best quality of life that I could give, I would make an excellent companion as I am very outgoing and have a good sense of humour. I can be flexible now as I am divorced since Jan 2020 and I have 4 grown up Children, the eldest 3 are graduates and are now in employment while my youngest daughter is sitting her leaving cert this year and plans to study nursing in the University of Edinburgh next September.
